ABOUT US
The Fibre Basket Weavers of South Australia officially came together as a group in 1981 under the presidency of Jean Lange, an experienced basketry teacher. The original members were all students of hers who at the time attended the School of Wool and Textiles at the Marleston College of Further Education, as part of the Art and Craft Certificate Course.
Their aim, as stated in the original constitution, was 'to revive and foster the art of basketcraft with particular emphasis on local natural fibres found in South Australia, especially those grown in home gardens'.
General Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday and 4th Sunday of the month at 196 South Road, Mile End, Adelaide, South Australia. Associated groups also meet regularly in Murray Bridge, the Adelaide Hills, South Coast, Southern Vales, Yorke Peninsula, Port Lincoln and Burra.
